This Privacy Policy explains how Kaala ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Kaala website and mobile application (together, the "Service"). By using Kaala, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

Location data. Kaala calculates Panchang, Tithi, Nakshatra, and muhurta timings based on your geographic location. On the web app, we request browser geolocation; on the mobile app, we request device location permission (via Expo Location). If you don't grant location access, Kaala defaults to showing Panchang for New Delhi, India.

To convert your coordinates into a readable city name, we send your latitude and longitude to a third-party reverse-geocoding service, BigDataCloud (api.bigdatacloud.net). This is used solely to display your location and is not used for any other purpose.

Account information. If you create an account, we collect:

• Email address and password, if you register directly with Kaala.
• Your name, email address, and profile information, if you sign in with Google.

Usage information. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use Kaala — pages viewed, session length, device type, and approximate location at the city/country level — so we can improve the Service. We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell, share, or use this data to profile you across other sites.

Cookies we do set. Kaala sets a functional cookie, NEXT_LOCALE, which stores nothing but the language you chose so the site can open in that language on your next visit. It holds no identifier, is never shared, and expires after one year. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings; the site continues to work, and simply opens in English until you pick a language again. Google Analytics sets its own cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) to distinguish visitors and sessions; you can block or delete these in your browser settings, and Kaala continues to work without them.

• To calculate and display Panchang, muhurta, and astrology data specific to your location.
• To create and manage your account and authenticate your sign-ins.
• To provide customer support if you contact us.
• To maintain the security and integrity of the Service.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

We share limited data with the following third-party service providers, solely to operate the Service:

• BigDataCloud — reverse-geocodes your coordinates into a city name.
• Google Sign-In — if you choose to sign in with your Google account.
• Google Analytics — collects usage data (pages viewed, session length, approximate location) to help us understand traffic and improve the Service.

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data passed to it.

Account and authentication data is stored on our servers and protected using industry-standard security practices, including encrypted password storage and token-based (JWT) session authentication. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

• You can deny or revoke location permission at any time through your browser or device settings; Kaala will fall back to a default location.
• You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account data by contacting us.
• You can delete your account, which removes your stored profile and authentication data.

Kaala is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
